Demetria Johnson, MSW

With over 20 years of experience in education, social work, and behavioral health, Demetria Johnson brings a compassionate, client-centered approach to supporting children, adolescents, adults, and families through life’s challenges. She holds a Master of Social Work from Savannah State University and a Master of Science in Foundations of Education with a concentration in Counseling and Psychology from Troy State University.

Currently serving as a School Social Worker with the Columbia County Board of Education and as a Therapist with Mind Is Unique Counseling Services, LLC, she is dedicated to helping individuals build emotional resilience, strengthen coping skills, and improve overall well-being. Her professional background includes providing individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, family support, suicide prevention training, and collaboration with schools, community agencies, and families to ensure comprehensive care and support.

Demetria therapeutic approach is warm, supportive, and strengths-based, with experience utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), talk therapy, and solution-focused interventions tailored to each client’s unique needs. She is passionate about creating a safe and welcoming environment where clients feel heard, valued, and empowered to heal and grow.

Throughout her career, she has worked extensively with children, adolescents, families, and at-risk populations across school, community, hospice, and behavioral health settings. She remains committed to advocacy, mental health education, and helping clients navigate life transitions with confidence and hope.
